What is Handrive?
Handrive is a peer-to-peer file sharing application that lets you share folders directly from your computer—no cloud storage required.
How It Works
- Create a share - Select any folder on your computer
- Add contacts - Connect with others using their email
- Invite members - Give contacts access to your shares
- Transfer directly - Files move peer-to-peer when both are online
Cloud Storage:
[Your Device] → [Cloud Server] → [Their Device]
Handrive:
[Your Device] ←→ [Their Device]
Your files stay on your devices. Handrive just connects them.

Core Concepts
Shares
A share is a folder on your computer that you make available to others. You choose who can access it and what they can do (view, edit, or manage).
Contacts
Contacts are people you connect with by email. Once connected, you can see their shares (if they've given you access) and invite them to yours.
Transfers
When someone accesses a file in your share, it transfers directly from your device to theirs. Both devices need to be online for transfers to work.
