Installation

macOS — App Store

  1. Open the Mac App Store and search for Handrive, or click the link above
  2. Click "Get" to install
  3. Launch Handrive from your Applications folder or Launchpad

macOS — Direct Download (.dmg)

  1. Download the .dmg file
  2. Open the downloaded file and drag Handrive to your Applications folder
  3. On first launch, right-click and select "Open" to bypass Gatekeeper
  4. To install CLI tools, open Settings and click "Install CLI"

The .dmg version includes optional CLI tools (hand) for terminal access — e.g. hand shares to list shared folders, hand download to transfer files. These are power-user features not required for normal usage. The App Store version does not include CLI as it requires system permissions unavailable in sandboxed apps.

Windows

  1. Download the .exe installer
  2. Run the installer
  3. Follow the installation wizard
  4. Launch Handrive from the Start menu

Linux

  1. Download the AppImage (or .deb/.rpm for your distro)
  2. For AppImage: chmod +x Handrive-*.AppImage
  3. Run the AppImage or install the .deb/.rpm package
  4. Launch Handrive from your application menu

Your Privacy Matters

Handrive is privacy-first. Your files stay on your devices and transfer directly between them. We never store your files on our servers. The only data we store is your email address for account verification.
